CROSSROADS COMMUNITY CHURCH
Position: Director of Community Outreach

Basic Function
The Director of Community Outreach will mobile and equip the church to reach the Sheboygan area for Christ. This position will focus primarily on creating connections with the community and leading a team to positively impact the community.
Specific Ministry Responsibilities:
- Build a community outreach leadership team that oversees outreach initiatives.
- Oversees a strategic plan for Crossroads to partner with and reach the community in Sheboygan and the surrounding area to engage our church in this mission.
- Partners with organizations Crossroads already supports to mobilize our church body to be engaged in the community work they are doing. (Samaritans Hand, Love INC, Good News Jail Ministry, etc.)
- Focuses on relationship building and partnership with other community leaders. The types of leaders that this person would focus on includes but is not limited to other church leaders, organizations such as Love INC, Samaritans Hand, Anchor of Hope, local police department leadership, city government leadership. The goal is to learn what our community needs and how we can best reach them for Christ. This would take a significant amount of time at the beginning and likely ongoing.
- Partners with other staff ministry leaders to provide opportunities for different groups in our church to serve together such as RUSH small groups and LifeGroups.
- Evaluates the effectiveness and strategic value of current outreach initiatives such as food/product drivers, etc..
- Casts vison to the church about why it matters to be on mission in our community.
- Proposes and manages the community outreach ministry budget.
- Grow this ministry to be able to relationally reach lost people in our community for the gospel.
- Recruits, encourages, coaches, challenges, and personally invests in the leaders of community outreach ministry to build into their lives and assist them in their vital roles.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Staff Pastor.
Personal Qualifications Required:
- Must maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, and time spent contemplating God’s Word.
- Must maintain proper priorities in your home in accordance with 1 Timothy 3.
- Approachable and relatable for the church congregation.
Strengths, Giftedness, Experience, & Miscellaneous Requirements:
- Strong grasp of Scripture and Biblical principles.
- Must have a heart for outreach and evangelism.
- Can clearly share the gospel in many settings and to many different types of people.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and is willing to continue to develop as a leader.
- Demonstrates a desire to create connections with other community leaders.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Possesses creativity and flexibility.
- Comfortable with recruiting and training of serving team members
- Possesses a shepherd’s heart and has clearly demonstrated this through past actions.
- Is a clear and consistent communicator. Must be willing to follow up on emails, calls and texts in a timely manner.
- Understands ministry is not a “9 to 5 job” and is willing to dedicate a minimum of two nights per week to ministry related activities. Night demands are balanced with flexibility that is present with the position to promote a healthy work/life balance.
- Actively lives out and models for the church a strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Crossroads.
- Agrees fully with the Converge Affirmation of Faith and Crossroads Community Church Statement of Faith.
- Believes in and has submitted to Believer’s baptism following their commitment to Christ.
- Comfortable and willing to lovingly challenge leaders, serving team members, or church members as needed when issues arise as well as admitting their own mistakes.
- Commits to resolve conflict via Biblical guidelines spelled out in Matthew.
- Must be a person people can relate to and find easy to approach.
- Basic software skills are required. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Prior vocational ministry experience and education is not required. However, any candidate must demonstrate how they have been actively involved in the ministries of their local church and speak to why they believe it has prepared them for this role.
- Previous work experience in customer service, event planning and/or project management a plus.
Relationships and Contacts:
- Reports to the Staff Pastor.
- Works closely with Community Outreach Leaders.
- Works closely with other staff members.
- Reports out to the Senior Pastor and Elder Team as requested.
- Works with community leaders and other church leaders to evaluate the best way to engage the community on a continuous basis.
Time Commitment:
Part time position of 20 base hours per week. Hours will be a combination of office hours, weekend, and evening hours. Nights and weekend hours are driven by needs of the ministry.
