\n\n\t\tHow To Study The Bible\n\t<\/h2>\n\t
There are many different ways to study the Bible and many great Bible study tools out there.\u00a0 But all the study methods come back to a few simple steps.\u00a0 At it’s simplest, studying the Bible is about 4 steps, Observation<\/strong>, Interpretation<\/strong>, Application<\/strong> and Prayer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
In Observation<\/strong>, you ask questions of the text to understand what the text says.\u00a0 You might ask who is this addressed to?\u00a0 What issues were they dealing with that prompted this to be written?\u00a0 What does this particular word mean?\u00a0 Who is the author?\u00a0 What were they going through when they wrote this?\u00a0 Think of the who, what, when, where and how type of questions.<\/p>\n
In Interpretation<\/strong>, you ask what does this text mean.\u00a0 Why did the author write this?\u00a0 What is the purpose of the text?\u00a0 How would the original audience have understood this?<\/p>\n
In Application<\/strong>, we ask ‘what does this text mean to us?’\u00a0 One key to application is to understand that the text won’t mean something to us that’s completely unconnected to what it meant to the original audience.\u00a0 This application answers questions like ‘What does this mean for us today?’, ‘How can I live this out?’, and ‘What difference should this make in my life right now?’\u00a0 Using the acronym SPACEPETS <\/strong>can help you discover the application. Ask:<\/p>\n

- S<\/strong>in: Is there a sin<\/strong> to confess?<\/li>\n
- P<\/strong>romise: Is there a promise<\/strong> to claim?<\/li>\n
- A<\/strong>ttitude: Is there an attitude<\/strong> to change?<\/li>\n
- C<\/strong>ommand: Is there a command<\/strong> to obey?<\/li>\n
- E<\/strong>xample: Is there an example<\/strong> to follow?<\/li>\n
- P<\/strong>rayer: Is there a prayer<\/strong> to pray?<\/li>\n
- E<\/strong>rror: Is there an error<\/strong> to avoid?<\/li>\n
- T<\/strong>ruth: Is there a truth<\/strong> to believe?<\/li>\n
- S<\/strong>omething: Is there something<\/strong> to thank God for?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
