Frequently Asked Questions
What is Wize 'N Up?
Wize 'N Up is an exciting four days of learning about God and important values in a fun and wacky way! Each night starts off with energy-packed music, funny skits and Bible teaching. Then the kids head outside for some wild and messy team games!
What are the days/hours of Wize 'N Up?
WNU is an annual event for kids. This year it will be held from 6:15pm to 8:30pm, Monday through Thursday, July 15-18.
What does my child need to bring with them?
Themselves! Please have your child wear their same WNU t-shirt all week (yes, washing will be necessary each night -- trust us ;-). Have your child wear old clothes and shoes. We suggest that when you pick up your child at the end of the evening, you bring along an old beach towel to wrap them in.
Does my child need to be pre-registered?
Nope! But by registering your child ahead of time, we can have them placed on a team, a t-shirt set aside for them, and have them on a team roster prior to their arrival at WNU. It is extremely helpful for kids to be pre-registered so we can quickly receive the quantity of children that come through our doors.
Are walk-ups welcome?
Absolutely!! We want everyone who would like to participate in this FREE event to come and join in on the fun! Just check-in at the registration table at the main entrance and our super friendly volunteers will get you all taken care of!
Can I invite my friends?
For sure!! You can bring your friends, neighbors, cousins -- anyone who is entering Grades 1-6 in the fall! And when you bring a friend, be sure to fill out a slip with your name and put it in the drawing bucket. Someone’s name is drawn EACH night and wins a HUGE bag of candy!
Are the kids t-shirts free?
Yes! Each child gets (1) free t-shirt to wear for the week. It is theirs to keep!
Will my child get messy?
It is entirely up to them -- really! There are some kids who really enjoy getting messy, and some who definitely do not! Either way is fine with us. We do not force kids to get messy if that is something that would cause them worry or stress. We just encourage them to have fun at whatever level they are comfortable with. If your child is someone who enjoys the mess, please be sure to bring an old beach towel to wrap them in at the end of the night so your car doesn’t get too messy on the ride home.
What if my child has allergies?
If your child has allergies of any kind, please be sure to note that on their registration form. All children who have allergies receive a neon bracelet so everyone can be aware of what to watch out for. The messy games at the end of the night do involve food and water. We want to keep all kids safe, and without their allergy information, we cannot do that to the best of our ability.
If my child has an allergic reaction, will you administer their EpiPen?
For those children who require an EpiPen, we can’t hold or administer the EpiPen. We will have small backpacks available if your child knows how to administer the treatment themselves. They can carry the bag along with them everywhere they go. If they need you to administer it, we would need a guardian to stay on the grounds during WNU.
Will bug spray and sunscreen be available for my child to use?
No, we are not allowed to apply bug spray or sunscreen to children, so please put some on your child before they arrive, if you so choose.
Can you explain about the non-perishable food donations?
Each year we collect non-perishable food for a local food pantry -- just one way to give back to the community! When kids bring in non-perishable food, they get to enter into a drawing (1 entry per item donated). One name is drawn every night at WNU (the kids win a HUGE bag of candy). Kids can bring non-perishables each night to be entered multiple nights!
So what exactly happens each night at WNU?
The kids will start each night outside. They will participate in team activities to get to know one another and their coaches! Next, they will head inside for music, teaching, and funny skits! To wrap-up the evening, we will head outside for fun and messy games. And we save the best for last -- the kids get to hit the slip-n-slide hills! Then they are released from their small group, to their parent’s care.
What time is pick-up?
WNU ends at 8:30pm. You will need to pick-up your child from their teams in the field (look for your child’s team color!). Kids will not be allowed to go and find their parent/ride, in an effort to keep them safe.
